I am an Assistant Professor at Virginia Military Institute in the Department of International Studies and Political Science. I study conflict processes, decisions taken by forced migrants, and government repression and marginalization of societal actors. I received my Ph.D. from the School of Government and Public Policy at the University of Arizona studying international relations and political methodology. I also hold a M.A. from the University of Arizona and B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.
Current research projects investigate the determinants of refugee return migration as well as decisions to flee or stay during armed conflict. My research is published or forthcoming in Research and Politics, Journal of Conflict Resolution, Journal of Peace Research, Conflict Management and Peace Science, and Public Choice.
